Germany confirmed their entry into the knockout stages of Euro 2024 with a 2-0 win against Hungary thanks to goals from Gundogan and Jamal Musiala. While Toni Kroos has been winning plaudits for his exquisite performance in midfield, the Barcelona midfielder has been left underappreciated yet again. However, Gundogan's importance isn't lost on his former team-mate Grealish, who posted his thoughts on the 33-year-old's performance.

The English winger posted an Instagram story on his official account praising Gundogan, he said: "Can't explain how good this guy is, man. Honestly, one of the best I've ever had the pleasure of playing with [applause emoji]."

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Gundogan has been at the top of his game and has been one of the most underrated midfielders of his generation. In the current Euros campaign, he has managed to score and assist once in two group matches so far and has been Germany's main facilitator in attacks alongside Musiala.

The 33-year-old midfielder might get some rest in Germany's final group game against Switzerland as they have already confirmed their presence in the Round of 16.
